DIY Chocolate Butterflies

It’s been a Spring Break week for us here in Ohio. And if you know anything about Ohio you’ll know it’s a bit confused about what “Spring” means.  You know…. sunshine, warmth, singing birds, budding flowers.  If I’m honest I will admit that I’m a bit envious of all the beach and ocean view posts I’m seeing from friends all over facebook and Instagram.

Yep… This was our view in Ohio this week. Someone forgot the memo that it is Spring here.

Yep… That’s me… somewhere behind that cold and snow flurry blown hair… not the gentle ocean breeze I would prefer.

But there is one thing I’ve learned in life… ok maybe a few things.  Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair.  Sometimes life is difficult.  Sometimes life is ugly.  Sometimes you don’t get what you want.  Sometimes you can’t seem to find what you need.

Those are the times you have to seek… to find beauty.  Those are the times you may have to create beauty.  Those are the times you may even have to give what you need to find what you seek.  It is in those times you may not get what you want but instead you find out you will get what you needed all along.

So this Spring Break I had to choose to find the beauty in the season I am personally in at this time.  That season goes way beyond the weather.  There is beauty to be found… even in the cold “winter like” Spring of Ohio.

One place I find beauty in is creating quick and easy projects.  So that is where these fun DIY Chocolate Butterflies come in.  I created these for a Spring Event I had a couple years ago.

Look how fun they are!!! They were the perfect touch for my event to top off the cupcakes.  Let me show you just how quick and easy they were to make…

I just used chocolate chips and melted them down.  Follow the melting instructions on the package you purchase.  Once melted I placed them into an icing bag with a small circle decorating tip.  If you don’t have icing bags as I used here you can simply use a baggie and cut a tiny hole in the corner.  I found an image I wanted to use from my Stampin’ Up! Catalog then laid a piece of wax paper over the image and just traced it.  Once I had all the butterflies I needed I gently placed the wax paper onto a cookie sheet and placed in frig to harden.  Once they were harden I carefully peeled them up and placed them on top of my prepared cupcakes.  Quick and easy!  You could also do this with any of the candy melts that come in multiple colors as well as trace any other image you might need.  How fun is that!!!

So I encourage you to go find beauty in today… seek it out… and if you can’t find it I challenge you to create it.

Don’t forget Sale-A-Bration is quickly coming to an end…

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Card Closure

It’s been a busy time filled with kid’s activities and sharing in their awesome accomplishments. I will take time to share more on that with you in another post, but wanted you know that even though I’ve been away from posting my thoughts have been with you all.  I don’t know about you but this long Winter has really taken a toll on me and my energy level.  But today on this first day of Spring I wanted to share a beautiful Spring card that has a special closure that features the new Scalloped Tag Punch.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure 4 www.stampwithanita.comI just love the colors on this card and how it beckons Spring to come.  I know I am so ready for warmer weather…. my aching joints are crying out for it to come soon!  This card was inspired by a make & take Addy Jester designed for us at a team meeting.  I added my own little flare by using the Chalk Talk Framelits Die.  So let me share with you how to make this card…

Scalloped Tag Topper Punch Card Closure

• Petal Parade Stamp Set – wood (#133599), clear (#133602) SAB Product
• Perfect Pennants Stamp Set – wood (#133227), clear (#133230)
• Pool Party Classic Ink  (#126982)
• Basic Black Classic Ink  (#126980)
• 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″  Sahara Sand Cardstock  (#121043)
• 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ Pool Party Cardstock  (#122924)
• Crisp Cantalope Cardstock  (#131298)
• Chalk Talk Framelits Dies  (#129983)
• Stampin’ Trimmer  (#126889)
• Scalloped Tag Topper Punch  (#133324)
• Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder  (#132971)
• Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper  (#133521)  SAB Product
• Crisp Cantalope Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (#133522)  SAB Product

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 1    Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 2
Start with a 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock.  You will be punching on both 5 1/2″ ends.  Insert cardstock into the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch all the way and center from top to bottom.  Before you punch look from the back so you can see that the card stock is pushed flush all the way into the edge of the punch.  You will do the same on the opposite side.  See photo and tip below to get both sides matched up.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 3 www.stampwithanita.comTIP: To easily match up both sides so they are aligned insert the opposite side of the cardstock and when looking from the back pull the side of the cardstock that you already punched back over to where you are punching now and you can visually align both sides up to match.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 4    Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 6
Now with both sides punched you will score the right side of your card.  Use the Stampin’ Trimmer and score down along where the punch cut into the cardstock.  On my Stampin’ Trimmer the cardstock lined up at the 7/8″ mark as shown above.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 5 www.stampwithanita.comOnce you have the first side scored you will then cut away the extra pieces as shown above.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 7 www.stampwithanita.comYou will then do the same thing to the other side that you punched… but on this side you will only need to cut the pieces away and NOT score.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 8 www.stampwithanita.comOnce both sides are complete you will slide the piece of cardstock back into your Trimmer and the side that a has the cut and score you will score again at the 4 1/4″ mark. This will become the back/inside of your card and will make more sense as you go along.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 9 www.stampwithanita.comWhen you are finished this is what you should have. You can discard the cut out pieces.

Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 10    Scallop Tap Punch Card Closure How To 11 www.stampwithanita.comFold your card on score lines and finish as desired.  For my card I attach a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) on inside right edge as shown. I used the lovely Sweet Sorbet DSP (#133521) that you can earn for FREE right now during Sale-A-Bration.  On the outside flap I embossed a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Pool Party Cardstock with the NEW Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder  (#132971) found in the Occasions Catalog.

Meet The Other Girls in Our Family

Today the skies were a beautiful blue and the sun was shinning bright.  There was still a chill in the air but the sun was very inviting!  It was the perfect day to let our girls out to free range in the yard all afternoon.  It’s been such a long Winter and they did not want to have anything to do with all that fluffy cold white stuff that has covered all the grass that they so loved.  Yep… I’m talking about our feathered girls…

Live a Lovely Life... raise chickens
It brought me such joy to go outside today for some fresh air and spend some time with them.  Natalie joined me as we spent some time petting and talking with them… and of course giving them some treats.  There is just something special, fun and even calming when spending a little time watching them.  We call it “Watching Chicken TV”.  We even invite the neighbors to join us at times!  They can truly be entertaining.  Really!!

Creative Peeps -
Our girls will all turn two this month.  We have raised them all from tiny fluffy peeps just one day old.  We let the kids all pick out their own to name.  We started out with eight, but one didn’t make it past the first week.  Then it didn’t take long before we realized one of our girls was a roo… because of his distinguished voice so we had to find a new home for him.  This Winter was a rough one and we ended up losing two of our girls to it, so now we have four.

CaptinLet me introduce you to “Captain”.  She is a Golden Buff and our best egg layer.  She lays the rich brown eggs and almost never misses a day… except when she’s broody, but that’s a whole other story for another time.

CallieThis beautiful gal is “Callie”.  She was named after our calico cat “Callie” that we used to have.  She’s an Easter Egger and lays lovely light green eggs.  She is at the top of the pecking order and keeps all the girls in line.

NachoSay hello to “Nacho”.  She is a Plymouth Rock and lays the speckled brown eggs.

huevosAnd last but not least, I introduce you to “Huevos” which means eggs in Spanish.  She is a Light Brahma and our biggest girl and contrary to her name she was the last of our hens to start laying eggs.  We weren’t sure she was ever going to start!  She is also the one in the peep photo above.  It’s so hard to believe she was ever so tiny.

handful of eggs

Not only do our girls bring us fun entertainment, they also give us beautiful yummy eggs everyday.  See how fun all the different colors are.

fresh eggs
Having fresh eggs everyday has been such a wonderful blessing to us.  They are so much yummier and fresher than store bought and make every recipe taste better!

YUMMY sausage and cheese quiche
I thought I would share one of our family’s favorite egg recipes.  I had gotten it years ago from my friend Nancy Gillespie during our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) days.  One of the best things about those days were the hot breakfasts we enjoyed during the meetings.  I think it was the only breakfast, let alone hot breakfast I ever got during that season in my life.  I still have the red sign-up sheet from the meeting that I had scribbled the recipe on, folded and tucked inside a favorite recipe book, but I know this one by heart now.  I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as we have over the years.  It’s also been a favorite at my Stampin’ Up! Events.

Sausage and Cheese Quiche Pie

YUMMY sausage and cheese quiche • 8 Eggs
• 1 pound of Sausage  (I usually use Bob Evens Regular Sausage)
• 1 pt. Whipping Cream or Half and Half
• 4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
• 2 Prepared Pie Shells  (store bought or make your favorite homemade recipe)
(optional)  I have added fresh spinach at times.

Brown sausage and then mix together all ingredients. Pour into pie shells.
Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350˚.

That’s it!  Simple and Yummy!

Come back and visit me next time for some fun project ideas for Spring.

Just Sayin’

If you know me at all you know this is something you’ll find me saying… Just Sayin’

It also happens to be the name of one of my favorite new word sets!  I know I say that all the time… I just have a lot of favorites!  Sometimes I don’t even know they are my favorite until I see a finished card or project or I get to play with it myself.  The one thing I have found is that you just can’t have too many word sets.  Right?  Look at all these fun little messages…

Just Sayin'

Just Sayin’ available in Wood Mount (133200) or Clear Mount (133203) or click image to see bundles

What’s great about this one is it also has coordinating framelits.  Woo-hoo!

Just Sayin' Framelits

Word Bubbles Framelits Dies (132968) available alone or click image to see bundle

So let me show you a fun card using the “Just Sayin’ Bundle”.  We made it at our team meeting last night.  I love getting together with other demonstrators.  We share business ideas, celebrate one another and always share projects with one another.  This card was one of the Make & Takes we made.  I didn’t design it, but of course did add my own twist to it.

Cute isn’t it?  I love the colors used on this card.  Do you ever find yourself in a rut when it comes to using the same colors all the time?  I have found one of the easiest ways to come up with a new color scheme for a project is to use the colors from one of our Designer Series Papers (DSP).  All the work has already been done for you and you may just find that you will use and even fall in love with colors you never knew you would have otherwise.

Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper (132993)

Here we used the Retro Fresh DSP and pulled the colors Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango from it for our card stock as well as the Tangerine Tango Ink.

Don’t you love how the stamped image coordinates perfectly with the framelit.  You can purchase the stamp set and the framelits separately or save 15% by purchasing them as a bundle.  Who wouldn’t want to save money?  I love bundles!!!

Hearts are not just for Valentines.  This card is just full of love with all the “HEARTS”.  Six hearts are included in the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies (#125599) used here.  Also used was the Full Heart Punch (119883) to punch out the Retro Fresh DSP heart and the Small Heart Punch (117193) was used to add the sprinklings of little hearts. <3 <3 <3

Other details on this fun card is the use of texture with the Adorning Accents Textured Folders (125601) which happens to be one of our WEEKLY DEALS for THIS week only.  Another fun way that we added detail and texture to our card is the Retro Fresh Washi Tape (133001).

So there you go…  Head over to my on-line store and grab one of our new bundles and some DSP and start creating some fun projects to share!

And don’t forget… if you purchase $50 you can choose a Sale-A-ration Product for FREE till the end of March!

Rolling Out The Red Carpet!!!

It’s that time again… The Oscars are here!!!

All the Stars are walking the Red Carpet looking all so dapper with the men in their prestine tuxes and women in ravishing gowns.  Attention has been given to every single detail from the fashion designer chosen to their hair, makeup, shoes and of course the beautiful accessories which add the finishing touches.  After all, who doesn’t love bling!

All the excitement and anticipation to see who the top award winners will be has been building up for weeks but now it’s time for all the nominees to shine as they celebrate the journey of the carpet!  We each get to participate in all the excitement as we sit by the TV to get a glimpse of our favorite stars or follow, post and tweet away on social media and somehow feel connected as we cheer them on in hopes that they take home the coveted golden man known as “Oscar”.

Well Tonight I am also rolling out the RED CARPET for a special STAR…

… It too is showcasing it’s DESIGNER brand and is the complete package including the finishing touches of fun accessories.  But this special STAR is close to my heart as it brings creativity and simplicity and offers me the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life through the simple action of making and giving  a hand stamped card.

Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit!!!

Let me introduce you to a basket full of goodness!!!

HipHipHoorayKit www.stampwithanita.com1
It feels wonderful to have 20 cards with matching envelopes ready to encourage, inspire, thank or celebrate the one who receives it!

The Hip Hip Hooray Designer Card Kit has absolutely everything you need to finish 20 cards.

The Hip Hip Hooray Designer Card Kit is a WINNER in my book!  Just look at all those fabulous cards all finished!!!  It makes me so happy!!!!

The best part is that these took so little time to make because they were a complete kit.  I started them at my PMS Party on Friday night and finished them tonight while sitting on the couch watching the stars journey down the Red Carpet.

I love the stamps that are included in this kit.  I know that they will be images that I can… and will use time and time again.

You don’t even need adhesive because all the printed elements are self adhesive die-cuts.  You just peel them off the sheet and stick them down.  How easy peasy is that?  You can also pop up any of the elements with the Dimensionals which are included in the kit. Oh… and by the way, please ignore my very dry hands… it’s been a long Winter and I can’t seem to keep enough lotion on my hands. lol

So many different ways to use the stamps.  You can stamp them one time or multiple times for a fun look. I always like to stamp the envelopes to match the cards and on this one I even used some of the extra die-cut images to jazz up the envies.  Because who wants a naked envelope?

The tiny little Paper Clips are so adorable and add a fun “on trend” feel to the cards, especially when paired with the White Bakers Twine. Both are also included in this awesome kit!

Just look how cute this is!  These simple little embellishments add so much to a card. Don’t you agree?  Yep… me too.

Oh… did I tell you that the kit also comes with it’s own little ink pad.  And who doesn’t love these little Stampin’ Spots.  Basic Gray coordinates with everything and you can use our ink refills in them!

I’m sure you’ll agree that this kit is a winner and TODAY is you day!  I know you too will find success with this awesome kit.  Simply follow it’s step by step instructions or use it’s contents to do your own thing, but whatever you do order your kit soon.  The Hip Hip Hooray Kit is only available while supplies last and at $19.95 I don’t expect them to last long so order your very own kit before they are gone.  And hey… while you are at it go ahead and order an extra kit or two because they would also make great gifts!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  You are all stars in my eyes.  Ellen is now on stage and the Oscars have begun so I will sign off for the night.  I welcome you to head over to my on-line store and get your kits.  As a reminder…. it’s Sale-A-Bration time. You can earn FREE product for every $50 you spend so now is the time to get all those items from your wish list and FREE product as well!  My ON-LINE STORE is always open 24/7.
